Delegating Email Access in Free Gmail

Business owners and executives can opt not to deal with the tremendous amounts of emails that pour into their inboxes from day to day.

With email delegation, you can provide someone else (within the same Google Workspace organisation or email address domain) with access to your inbox and emails. Email delegation is a secure way of letting other individuals manage your emails, compared to giving out your login information.

Here are the things your employee can do while managing your emails via Gmail delegation:

  • View your email inbox
  • Reply to your messages on your behalf
  • Delete your emails

Here are the things your employee won’t be able to do while managing your emails:

  • Send or receive messages via chat (Hangouts)
  • Change the configuration of your Gmail settings
  • Change your account password

It is possible to add up to 10 delegates to your account. If you're using Gmail through your work, school, or other organization, you can add up to 25 delegates within your organization.

For instructions on how to delegate email access using Free Gmail, kindly refer to the Resources section of this lesson.

By delegating your emails to your assistant, you are able to free up hundreds of hours from your time, allowing you to focus on more important things, such as scaling your business.
